After the gold mines were depleted, the main economic activity of Raub today is agriculture.

Besides the commodity crops of rubber, oil palm and cocoa, the district is well known for its local fruits.

In fact the town has been called styled as the durian capital of Malaysia and attracts a steady stream of local and foreign visitors, especially tourists from Singapore and China.

Today Raub is also a key part of the development region known as Pahang Barat set up to boost economic growth in the state through agriculture and tourism activities.

Pahang Barat, comprises the districts of Bentong, Cameron Highlands, Raub, and Lipis.

This huge area has potential to attract investments in high-value agricultural activities as well as to draw tourists to its highland destinations.
